Green-design evaluation and water-based damping coatings
T/CNCIA02001-2017 is a technical specification for evaluating the environmental friendliness of water-based architectural coatings. This article explains what it looks at and how to use it when selecting a product.
What the specification looks at
Raw materials should use low-VOC components and environmentally friendly additives and pigments; production should use clean, efficient processes and control energy use, waste water and waste; performance indicators include adhesion, weather resistance, water resistance and alkali resistance.
Environmental friendliness evaluation
The evaluation covers VOC content, hazardous-substance content and formaldehyde release, and is used to judge the effect of a coating on indoor air quality and health.
How to use it when selecting
The specification is an evaluation method; whether a particular product meets it is shown by test reports. When enquiring, ask the supplier for test reports on VOC, hazardous substances and similar items together with the standards they apply, and check them against the model's data.
